Description
Is your farm being harassed and raided by orcs?Going on a long adventure and you need the best of protection?
Interested in peaceful protesting?
Then this suit of armor is for you!
Included is everything you need to armor yourself head-to-toe in riveted chainmail. Feel like a tank and move like a snail in these 70lbs of riveted steel rings. With the included padded garments it should be completely slash impervious, relatively stab proof, and barely passable against crushing impacts. It should also be relatively resistant to lower draw weight bows and crossbows, although I have not tested that. I do not take any responsibility for injuries incurred while wearing this armor.
The mail shirt is 44 inches in chest diameter, although it's somewhat tight at the higher end of that spectrum (the padded garment takes up like an inch or two of that). Extra long arms to the hauberk with integrated mittens and slashed leather palm covers. Back when I first had this armor I was 6'2", and about 170 lbs, and it fit snugly. My shoulder to fingertip measurement was 32", and my armpit to fingertip measurement 30", and the sleeves had maybe an inch of extra slack. Note that the hauberk has some rust near the collar, but it should self-clean and abrade off after wearing it around a few times.
Along with the full hauberk is a size small closed gambeson (13th Century Padded Gambesn - Natural made by Lord of Battles). It has been modified to no longer be closed, because putting it on and taking it off was a three person job that made me fear for my life.
This order also includes two mail chausses (leg chainmail). The chausses have leather strips included at the ankle and top, along with a length of strong cord each for pointing to the arming belt. I've included two slightly modified (i.e. toe removed) cotton hose for protecting your legs against the armor. To go along with the chausses there is a custom-sewn arming belt, which allows the chausses to be pointed to it and suspend the weight of this leg armor from your hips.
Last, but not least, there's also a similarly riveted and heavy mail coif with leather edging for protecting your noggin. Like all the other armor it has a padded arming cap, only very slightly covered in chainmail oil. I would not recommend wearing only the coif if you are fighting orcs, and in that case would suggest that you also get some sort of nasal or enclosed helmet to go over everything. Safety first.
All the chainmail is made up of 9mm flat rings. It's all riveted, although this alternates between wedge and dome style rivets. The main hauberk is wedge riveted. I am getting rid of this armor because I've gotten CHONKY and it no longer fits me.
Also included is-
- Another 10 x 20 inch sheet of chainmail, in case you felt this wasn't enough chainmail
- 50 inch long 1.5" wide brown medieval belt by Viking Leather Crafts, for cinching the hauberk to your waist and taking some of the weight on your hips
